Dr. Leslie A. Zebel is a clinical licensed psychotherapist in the state of Florida #MH4375, since 1993. She graduated from Nova University with a Masters degree in Counseling Psychology and earned her doctorate degree through more than six years of extensive post Masters Training in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy.

Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy

Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy, also known as Psychodynamic, is a highly skilled form of treatment, and is based on the theory that individuals are often unaware of many factors that determine their emotions and behaviors. This lack of recognition can lead to unhappiness and suffering, sometimes in the form of recognizable symptoms and other times as troubling personality problems, difficulties in work or in relationships, or concerns with self esteem including depression.  Some of the tools which facilitate this uncovering process are dream interpretation, understanding emotional memories, free association and, additional weekly sessions along with a profound trust with an understanding, caring and benevolent therapist.

Extensive Clinical Training

Dr. Zebel’s post master’s work in psychodynamic psychotherapy included an intensive three part program comprised of individual psychoanalysis, four years of academic coursework and weekly supervision on current casework. Supervision entailed weekly case reviews with analysts who have 20+ years experience in psychoanalytic psychology.

Court appointed Expert for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder

As an Expert Witness, Dr. Zebel has worked with countless patients and victims of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder as a “treating expert” for both state and federal courts. In treating chronic pain and trauma she has been deposed and testified in court cases with positive outcomes for her patients.

Certified Supervisor for Interns

As a Certified Supervisor for Mental Health Interns, Dr. Zebel has completed the necessary state requirements to work with Master’s level graduates who are working toward their state licensure.
